Do you have a part-time job? Are you a decisive person? Do you invest on a consistent basis? Are you persistent?
If you answered 'yes' to all of these questions, then you could be well on your way to becoming a millionaire.
Everyone’s situation is different from the next person’s. But there are routines, habits and traits about one’s personality that say they are doing something right.
Here are just 9 signs that you could be on your way to becoming a millionaire, and striking it rich!
1. You don’t rely on a single source of income
Wealthy people have multiple streams of income. This has been noted by various researchers and authors who have studied the habits of the most successful and richest people in the world.
One author, Thomas Corley, found in his 5-year study of self-made millionaires, that they don’t rely on one source of money. Corley mentions that 65% of those he studied had at least three income streams they created before making their first million. These three things included a side hustle, part-time job, or real-estate investments like rentals.
2. You invest your savings
How much you save and invest holds more water than the amount you earn with your salary at the end of each month.
When you invest your money, you set yourself on the path to being rich and wealthy, which is why saving is important – so you can invest one day.
Ramit Sethi, a personal finance expert, says that millionaires on average invest 20% of their household income annually. Their wealth is measured by how they save and invest over time, not how much they make every year.
3. You surround yourself with achievers
The common saying we’ve grown up hearing about the company we keep is true. Your success sometimes depends on those you frequently associate with.
Steve Siebold, a self-made millionaire and keynote speaker, says:
"In most cases, your net worth mirrors the level of your closest friends."
So check your squad. Reevaluate whether you are hanging out with high-achieving people, if you want to be a millionaire.
4. You’re decisive
Napoleon Hill, the author of the personal finance classicThink and Grow Rich, studied more than 500 millionaires, and analyzed hundreds of people who had accumulated fortunes in millions.
Napoleon discovered that each of these people were decisive, and that "those who reach decisions promptly, know what they want and generally get it."
5. You constantly look for ways to improve
Writer Napoleon Hill also mentioned that people with closed minds on any subject, seldom get ahead.
Interestingly, those who are considered the wealthiest and most successful among us are always seeking for ways to improve on themselves and looking for feedback. This is why wealthy business leaders never claim to have ‘made it’ despite their huge successes in our eyes.
6. You know what you want for your money
People who know exactly what they want are inching closer to achieving their goals. Most self-made millionaires plan to get rich, and actualize those plans.
Corley’s research discovered that 80% of the rich are obsessed with the pursuit of their goals, whether long or short term and daily.
7. You are creative and think big
Millionaires don’t spend time discussing about things, such as movies, cars, or other material stuff. They spend time thinking about new ideas, because they understand that ideas are the world’s most valuable assets.
Setting expectations high and being up for any challenge are also important traits to have.
8. You don’t give up
While many people are prone to give up at the first sign of defeat, millionaires don’t stop until they get what they want.
Napoleon Hill says if your first plan doesn’t work successfully, replace with a new one, and if the new one fails, replace with another until you find one that works.
9. You prefer to read books
Successful people prefer to be educated than entertained, author Siebold writes in his book How Rich People Think. The writer adds that every wealthy person’s home has an extensive book library from which they educate themselves on how to be more successful while the masses read novels, tabloids and entertainment magazines.
